An examination of spanking and paddling as physical abuse, sexual abuse and sexual harassment. Includes paddling photographic illustrations with Andrea.
Thank you so much for the information on this site about religion and discipline. As a Christian mother it is important for me to raise my children with biblical principles. However, I have never felt that God wants me to spank my children and I have always interpreted the rod as a tool to be used for guidance and instruction, not a weapon.
There is a big push in my church to read and follow the parenting book, "To train up a child." I read the book and became outraged that people could follow this guide to child abuse. I have lost friendships in my church for openly not supporting this. This past Sunday the senior pastor of my church made an announcement about a seminar this author had and many people in our church attended, including some pastors and elders. I can not believe how many otherwise intelligent people are being brainwashed by this.
I am printing the information on your site (www.stophitting.org), enough copies for everyone in my church who is endorsing this book. I am looking for another church that does not advocate child abuse. This will be my last Sunday at my current church. (I am committed to teaching Sunday School.)
